JBOD stands for Just-a-Bunch-Of-Disks. One or more hard disks that are not associated with each other in any way. This is the way most home PC's are set up.
This acronymn was created to contrast with RAID - Redundant Array of Inexpensive/Independent Disks, a system where multiple disks act as a single disk to provide redundancy and/or increase speed.
