Metawerx Mail Help - Mail Forwarding

Mail Forwarding can be used to send your email to a different address, such as your ISP address, or a GMail or Hotmail address.

If mail is not forwarded, it is left on the server for collection via POP3 (eg: Outlook Express or Firebird).

To set up forwarding, enter an email address in the Forward-to field.

To collect mail using POP3 instead, leave the field empty.

What happens when forwarding is enabled?

  • Mail arrives for your email address
  • The server tries to send the email to your Forward-to address
  • If it cannot be delivered due to a "Mail Error", a notification email is sent to the sender to let them know
  • If it cannot be delivered due to a "Temporary Problem", the mail server will keep trying for 24 hours, then send a notification email back to the sender it no delivery was possible
  • After successful delivery, or a confirmed failure, the email is deleted from the metawerx server

What happens when forwarding is NOT enabled?

  • Mail arrives for your email address
  • The email is stored in your POP3 Mailbox, until you collect it
