Round Robin Load Balancing

A technique used in load balancing, DNS and other systems to send requests to 2 or more target servers.

Each request that arrives is sent, to the next server in order, in a looping manner.

For example, with 2 servers, round robin allocation looks like this:

  • Request A - Server 1
  • Request B - Server 2
  • Request C - Server 1
  • Request D - Server 2
  • Request E - Server 1
  • Request F - Server 2
