Dynamic Content

Any web page, image, or other file which is generated dynamically by the web server at the time it is requested.

If a page displays data from a database, or produces different information when you are logged in, it is a dynamic page.

For example, a login form might be on a static page (the HTML page is static content), but when you submit the form, dynamic content is sent back, depending on whether your login was successful.

Examples

  • HTML or XML generated by JSP, ASP, PHP or ColdFusion
  • dynamic image files, such as charts, generated on request
  • a PDF file generated by a PDF-Export feature of an application
