Tomcat Connectors are modules which allow Tomcat to be invisible integrated with other web servers.
When a page request comes in, if the request should be handled by Tomcat, the server sends the request to Tomcat via the connector.
Connectors exist for Apache HTTP Server, Microsoft IIS, Sun Web Server and many other popular web servers, allowing Tomcat to be integrated into any website.
